Our philosophy.

Wines born from a respected vineyard, from careful hands and from the character of every single vintage.

  1. Fewer grapes, more character.

We choose to produce little. Our yields are on average less than half of what the regulations allow: each vine focuses all its energy on a few clusters, intense and full of expression.

  2. Only our own vineyard.

We make wine exclusively from grapes picked in our own rows. We don’t buy from others: every bottle tells of a single origin, ours.

  3. A soil that breathes.

We use no herbicides: the grass between the rows is mown mechanically. To protect the vines we only choose products of natural origin, and we give up any chemical fertiliser, on the soil or on the leaves. Every five years we give back to the land what it has given us, with a natural fertilisation.

  4. The value of time.

Many of our vines are more than twenty years old. We look after them with care, because mature vines give deeper fruit, the basis for unique wines. Guyot pruning lets us guide them towards a measured, quality production.

  5. By hand, gently.

The harvest is entirely by hand. The clusters are laid in small crates to keep them intact, and reach the cellar for crushing within three hours of picking.

  6. In the cellar, only what is needed.

In winemaking, the rules allow many additives and processing aids to correct, flavour or standardise the wine. We choose not to use them: the only addition we allow ourselves is sulphites, in small doses, needed to protect the wine and keep it intact over time. Everything else is done by the grapes, time and care. Malolactic fermentation follows straight after the alcoholic one, to bring balance and stability naturally. At our side is the winemaker Mario Redoglia from Asti, because in wine experience can’t be improvised.

  7. Every vintage is unique.

A year generous with sun, one marked by hail, one of heavy rain: we welcome whatever nature offers us. We don’t want wines that all taste the same, but wines that bring to the glass a faithful memory of the season they were born from.

  8. Monferrato.

Every return to these hills is an enchantment renewed. Monferrato, part of the Vineyard Landscapes of Piedmont recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has been described as a true archetype of the European wine landscape. This is where the roots of our wines lie.

All that’s left is to fill the glass and raise a toast to Life.
